The True Power of Praise

We have read many examples in the Bible of what praise can do. Right from Jericho tumbling down to Peter's praise (song) breaking prison doors. 

Today, Let's read Matthew 21, which records the historic journey of Jesus into Jerusalem. He casually speaks to His disciples and the people around Him, but in those conversations He reveals a power that moves mountains, delivers people, and builds faith.

Three Things Produced by Praising Him

Faith

Praise gives you faith that can move mountains. Saying/Declaring His words and promises to your situations is a praise. It can move mountains

Matthew 21:21–22 (CJB)

...... but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Go and throw yourself into the sea!’ it will be done. In other words, you will receive everything you ask for in prayer, no matter what it is, provided you have trust.’

Power

Praise gives power. The power to silence the enemy and the avenger comes forth from the person who praises Him as a child would. Notice something remarkable.The Psalm says strength. Jesus quotes it as praise. He equates praise with spiritual strength.

Mathew 21:16

……. yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”

Psalm 8:2 (CJB)

From the mouths of babies and infants at the breast you established strength because of your foes, in order that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.”

Deliverance

You declare His name over the situation. No matter what it is, the devil has to let it go. The world has to let it go!. 

Matthew 21:3

And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them

Let us study 7 Attributes of Praise

1. Praise is declaring that Jesus is in charge.

Understanding His power is important. No other name is greater than His.

“And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” - Matthew 21:3 (NKJV)

2. Praise is asking Him as children shout.

Change your thought process today. Let it be like a children in the temple crying out to Jesus. There were so many adults who didn't dare to cry out to Jesus all consumed by their own self righteousness, guilt, shame about asking Jesus.

"...the children crying out in the temple and saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David!'" - Matthew 21:15

3. Praise is putting full trust in Him.

Trust Him and see your situations change!.

“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to this fig tree...'” - Matthew 21:21 (NKJV)

4. Praise rebukes the enemy and the accuser.

Praise ends the power of Satan over your life!. Praise him the satan will be silenced!

“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.” - Psalm 8:2 (NKJV)

5. Praise demonstrates the Lord's power.

Let your praise demonstrate the power of Jesus in your life and the life of people around you. Once you move the mountain, you move not only your mountain but give hope to millions on how they can move their hurdles. 

"...if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done."

Matthew 21:21 (NKJV)

6. Praise shakes/breaks the traditions.

Praise shakes and breaks every unnecessary traditions/habits you have. It makes things new in your life. Helps to change and get free from secret sins.

“... the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant - Matthew 21:15

7. Praise calls out the unseen.

Praise celebrates God's victory before it becomes visible.

It is faith speaking before sight confirms it.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

When you praise Him with the attitude of a child (the children cried out, "Hosanna!"), and when you claim the authority of Jesus ("The Lord has need of them"), then praise does marvelous things. It suppresses the enemy and the avenger—the accuser (Psalm 8:2). The enemy and the accuser have no other option but to let go.

Deliverance will be imminent.
