“He answered and said, ‘Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.’”

In this modern era, people speak about grace, law, prosperity, and many other theological topics. We spend so much time in theological discussions, trying to manufacture or produce miracles through deeds that we consider to be the “plan of God.” When those expectations fail, we begin to question our faith—or even the very existence of God.

But when we go through difficult times, none of those arguments really matter.

• Does God deliver me because I do good deeds?

• Does God deliver me because I was born a Christian?

• Does God deliver me because my father is a pastor?

• Does God deliver me because I was baptized?

• Does God deliver me because I attend church regularly?

What qualifies me to receive His deliverance?

Ultimately, what matters the most?

I would rather stand with the blind man in John 9.

“One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25, NKJV)

When the Lord saved me, lifted me up, restored me, and found me, and yet I still face disappointments sometimes. I cannot explain everything. I don’t have answers to every theological question.

But one thing I know—I was blind, and now I see.

When life takes us through turmoil, sickness, poverty, disappointment, and uncertainty, we often forget who our Lord is.
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)

I would like to point to three people in the Bible:

1. The thief on the cross

He had no baptism, no church membership, no tithe, no ministry, and no opportunity to prove himself. Yet Jesus said,
“Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43 (NKJV)

2. The blind man on the Jericho road

He simply cried out to Jesus.
“Then Jesus said to him, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well.’ And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:52 (NKJV)

3. The blind man at Bethsaida

His healing happened differently.
“So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.” Mark 8:23 (NKJV)

Jesus touched him once. Then He touched him again before his sight was fully restored.

One message this speaks to me is that Jesus has a different process for each person.

The blind man at Bethsaida had to be touched twice before he was healed completely. The blind man at Jericho received his sight simply because he cried out in faith. The thief on the cross received no physical healing or earthly deliverance, yet he received something even greater—eternal life—at the very last moment.

God’s methods are not the same, but His faithfulness never changes.

”‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

If you are going through ups and downs today, take courage.

Trust His process.

There are no shortcuts, formulas, presentations, methodologies, or workarounds that can force God’s hand or guarantee deliverance. Remain in His presence every day. Cry out to Him in faith.

He knows your journey, and He knows the process He has chosen for you.

And when He is done, may your testimony simply be:

“One thing I know: though I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25, NKJV)
